In my experience, Willows Glen is not a place I would recommend living. Much of the property feels outdated, and our experience with management and maintenance was extremely frustrating. We dealt with a mold issue in the ceiling for years, and the only action taken was painting over the large visible spot rather than properly addressing the underlying problem. We also asked about draining the hot water heater because the water had started to feel unpleasant, and we were told that could not be done while we were living there. When we decided to move, we missed the notice deadline by just four days and were charged for an additional full month. The office uses an automated system that is supposedly intended to send reminders, but we were later told that those reminders are not sent for short-term leases. That would have been useful information to know ahead of time, especially since my previous leases had provided those notices. After living there for six years, we also did not receive our full security deposit back. One of the reasons given was that the carpet supposedly had “one year and 26 days of life left.” Considering the carpet had not been replaced during our entire six-year tenancy—and we had a pet—that explanation was incredibly frustrating. There were other issues as well, but those are some of the main ones. The lower rent may seem appealing, but in my opinion, you get what you pay for. I would strongly recommend looking into other options before choosing to live here.

I had the pleasure of working with Bailey today. She was beyond helpful, kind, understanding and truly a joy to be around. I will definitely be coordinating with her schedule in the future for any further assistance I am in need of!

THE GOOD: • Gorgeous neighborhood! Great location! • Pool is very nice! • Maintenance is very responsive and friendly! • Office staff is professional! • Decently affordable given it’s basically on a luxury golf course. They could get away with charging $3k for this and probably will one day soon. THE BAD: • Before we signed, we straight up asked the office about our electric Blackstone griddle and if it would be an issue. We were given a kind of non-answer. After signing, we got an email saying we can’t have it. It’s essentially a George foreman grill on a stand! Theres no real fire hazard like a gas or charcoal grill on the porch. The patios have outlets!!! It plugs into said outlet! WHY WAS THIS AN ISSUE! • Random inspection threats? The complex got an email saying inspections are happening and we are to have no colored lights, bikes, grills, flags etc. on balconies and a few things that weren’t supposed to be INSIDE the apartment that I cannot quite remember right now. I get it with the bikes and grills. Flags is interesting but whatever. Colored lights, I don’t get that one. IT DIDN’T MATTER ANYWAY. There were no inspections done! What was the point! Just to threaten and scare people?! I expected management or someone to come through and inspect. Didn’t happen. • Maintenance flooded our apartment after working on our water heater that we’d told them was broken but they insisted it just needed to be reset. They removed the drain hose for the purpose of using that space to drain the water heater. The apartment flooded after maintenance failed to put the drain hose back in. We ran a load of laundry and you can guess what happened next. We had to have fans and drying equipment in the apartment for days. We had a brand-new baby in the home as well. So that was fun. • Pool randomly closed multiple times during peak pool season for maintenance. Just do it all one time….in the off season…..what do I know though? • The high-tech strips they issue you to put on your car to automatically open the gate without entering the code don’t work. At least for me and the people in my apartment. Useless! • Speaking of gate. What’s the point of it if the gate INTO the neighborhood is ALWAYS just wide open?! This is now two separate complexes, in two different cities I’ve lived in with gates that just didn’t work/were wide open 90% of the time. Is this just how gated communities work?! TWO. Which isn’t a lot, but its weird that its happened twice. • The gym could use an upgrade but that’s me being a little nitpicky. It’s good for basics. I love that they have a squat rack! Could’ve used a cable setup though. Oh well. Not everyone cares about using the gym so no worries. Take this one with a grain of salt. • ONE trash compactor for the whole neighborhood. Probably saves them money but if you’re used to a multi-dumpster set up this will be strange for you. All you really have to do is make trash runs anytime you are gonna leave the apartment anyway. Not too hard of a routine to get into, for me at least. Everyone’s different though. May be an issue for some. • The complex water was shut off to flush water lines with basically no notice. We were told this was due to the water company not giving willow glen notice. Bad business either way and residents got screwed. • We had a complex-wide parking lot repaving project sprung on us with not a lot of clear communication and very short notice to move cars by 7am or be towed. Communication with residents on more than an evening’s notice shouldn’t be that tough. The contractor doing the work started banging on the gym door for me to move my car that id parked in the lot by the gym THAT WAS NOT MARKED OR CONED OFF AT THE TIME OF MY ARRIVAL. He was extraordinarily aggressive and rude about it. So there you have it. The good, bad and ugly. Decide for yourself.
